Going on 4 years as a CrossFit affiliate, we have been asked many questions, here are the ones we hear most:
What is CrossFit?
I always see pictures of CrossFit people, and they are in great shape. I don't know if I am ready!
Remember that people start here to GET IN SHAPE! Don't be the least bit concerned that you will be seem out of place. Our members take pride in our established reputation as a welcoming fitness family, and we were all people just as nervous as anyone else to walk into a CrossFit box for the first time. You will be taken under our wing, just like we would expect you to welcome in new Voodoos when you have been here for awhile. The people who are here that seem in shape are a testament to our program. Don't worry, you will be made to feel right at home.
Can you explain a day of training?
Our training hour consists of generally, but not always, 20 minutes of warming up and skill work, 20 minutes of Strength work to include Oly or Lifting, and 20 min dedicated to the WOD (Workout of the Day). WODs may be anywhere from 3 minutes - 5 minutes or as long as 20 min to an hour. We save long WODs for Holidays or Special Occasions.
Wait.... 3 minute long workout?
CrossFit is all about intensity. Just imagine how demanding a 60 second Sprint would be. You will find that the shortest workouts at a high intensity put the most demand on your body. Never underestimate the short WODS.
What types of movements will I be doing with CrossFit?
Our goal is to be ready for anything. We will utilize all sport and fitness models that we can get our hands on. You will be doing We look to measure your power output, meaning Force x Distance \ Time.
